1. Q: HOW MUCH DOES TESTING COST?
The total cost of the pre-interview testing is $257.69 (tax included).
2. Q: HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO RE-TEST?
The initial fee of
$264.66 includes all tests
(GATB,
WCT, PREP, Vision & Hearing).
Applicants
will be required to pay a component fee of $79.42 (tax
included) when retesting any component.
3. Q: HOW DO I KNOW IF A PARTICULAR TEST DATE
IS STILL AVAILABLE?
If you register on or before our stated deadline for that
particular date, you will be guaranteed a seat for that test
date.

Q: CAN I RESCHEDULE MY TEST DATE?
Yes, to reschedule your test date, contact the office at 1-800-429-7728.
Refer to the test dates available on the website for alternate
dates. A fee of $25.00 payable at the time of rescheduling
by Visa or Master Card is required.
5. Q: CAN I REGISTER PAST THE
REGISTRATION DEADLINE?
Yes, however subject to availability. If we are able to accommodate
your late registration you will be charged a $25.00 late registration
fee payable upon registration with Visa or Master Card.
6. Q: WHAT PAYMENT METHODS ARE ACCEPTED?
ATS accepts certified cheques, money orders,
INTERAC OnlineŽ,
VISA and MasterCard
payments. ATS does not accept personal cheques.
7. Q: HOW LONG DOES THE TESTING TAKE?
The entire testing process takes anywhere from 3-4 weeks to
complete.
8. Q: HOW LONG ARE THE RESULTS VALID FOR?
The GATB and WCT results are valid for a period of 3 years,
and the PREP is valid for 6 months.

Q: CAN I WRITE THE TESTS OUTSIDE OF MY AREA?
Yes, you are free to travel to any of our test centre locations
regardless of where you reside.
10. Q: WILL I RECEIVE MORE INFORMATION ON THE
TESTS AND PROCESS?
Yes, when you register for a test date, and payment is received
in full, we will forward you a confirmation package with more
information about the tests, as well as the location, time,
and test-day instructions.
11. Q: HOW DO I KNOW THAT I’M REGISTERED?
ATS will mail/email you a confirmation package that includes
your test date, registration time, a map, test day instructions
and several documents to be completed. If you have not received
the confirmation package one week prior to your test date,
or unsure if your registration was received, please contact
the ATS office.
12. Q: DO I HAVE TO COMPLETE THE DOCUMENTS IN
THE CONFIRMATION PACKAGE EACH TIME I TEST?
Yes, it is a requirement of the Canadian Nuclear Safety
Commission that all applicants
testing or retesting, complete these documents. Failure to
complete and submit will result in a delay in the processing
of your results.
13. Q: WHERE CAN I USE THE RESULTS (O.A.C.P. CERTIFICATE)?
You can use the results (Certificate) with Chalk River.
14. Q: DOES ATS OFFER FEEDBACK ON UNSUCCESSFUL
TESTS?
Yes, included in your test results package, is general feedback
information and improvement strategies.
15. Q: HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO WAIT IF UNSUCCESSFUL
ON THE TESTS?
If you are unsuccessful in either the GATB or WCT at
the first attempt, you must wait for a period of three (3)
months from the test date before making another
attempt. Candidates who have not met standard on
subsequent attempts must wait a period of six (6) months
before they can test again. The first time a candidate does not meet standard with the
PREP, they are eligible to register
immediately and retest within 2 months of their test date.
For each attempt after that, the waiting period to retest is
2 months from your test date.
16. Q: HOW DO I REGISTER FOR A TEST DATE?
Registration is available
online (through the Registration link) or by calling the ATS
office.
17. Q: HOW LONG UNTIL I RECEIVE MY RESULTS (CERTIFICATE)?
The results will be mailed to you within 7-10 business days of testing.
18. Q: HOW DO I KNOW WHO’S HIRING AT ANY
GIVEN TIME?
ATS provides a Recruiting Page on our web site that has postings
for positions currently available at Chalk River.
19. Q: DO YOU OFFER PRACTICE SESSIONS FOR THE
PREP?
ATS does offer PREP practice sessions once a month in the
Greater Toronto area (Thornhill). If you are interested in a practice session
with ATS you must call the office to schedule a PREP practice,
as there are limited spots. You can also contact your local
community college and inquire whether they offer this service
as many colleges now have the PREP equipment.
20. Q: IF I AM UNSUCCESSFUL IN ONE PORTION OF
THE PREP TEST, DO I HAVE TO RETEST BOTH COMPONENTS?
Yes, you must complete the entire PREP test (Pursuit and
Shuttle Run).
21. Q: REGARDING THE SHUTTLE RUN, WHAT IS STAGE
6.5?
The way in which the shuttle run test is administered
is that the applicants run 4.5 laps of the 20 meters per 1/2
stage. This means that over the course of the total test,
you would be running over the 20 meter course approximately
58 times. The pace of the test starts out quite slow and
then picks up significantly around stage 4. By stage 5.5,
you will be running. If you wish to train for this test,
it's best to jog/run 4 to 5 times a week for at least 25 -
35 minutes. One other way of determining if you are
physically capable of reaching stage 6.5 on the test, you
may try to run 1.5 miles (2.4 km) in 11.5 minutes or less.
If you are able to do this, then you should be physically
fit enough to successfully pass the shuttle run test.
22. Q: DO YOU OFFER ANY PRACTICE WRITTEN EXAMS?
No, ATS does not offer practice written exams, however you
can review the
Orientation and
Pre-Test Guide for sample questions.
