As part of the application process, you are required to participate in a pre-interview screening procedure. This website outlines the standardized tests currently in use.
As of January 2013, the Ontario Provincial Police require all of its Applicants for the positions of Special Constable/ Security Officer – for Queen’s Park Detachment or GHQ Detachment to have successfully completed and met standard on the Special Constable Physical Fitness Test. Special Constable/ Security Officer – Queen’s Park Detachment and GHQ Detachment Applicants are not required to complete the General Aptitude Testing Battery (GATB) or the Writing Process Test (WPT).
As of June 2014 the Ontario Provincial Police Offender Transportation Program require all of its Applicants for the positions of Offender Transportation Officer to have successfully completed and met standard all the Special Constable Test; General Aptitude Test Battery (GATB), the Written Process Test (WPT) and the Physical fitness test.
As of November 2012, the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (OSPCA) will require all of its Applicants for the position of OSPCA Agent to have successfully completed and met standard on the Special Constable Physical Fitness Test. OSPCA Applicants are not required to complete the General Aptitude Testing Battery (GATB) or the Writing Process Test (WPT). OSPCA Agents enforce the OSPCA Act and the Criminal Code. Most Special Constable positions in Ontario require the successful completion of the GATB, WPT and physical fitness tests. Some positions also require Vision & Hearing Screening.
